OUR JOURNEY

Our history started in fishing vessels sampling deep-water corals. The curiosity moved on and today we are a group of young scientists working on multiple themes related to Anthozoa, but especially with scleractinian corals. Without any doubt, we would not be this far without the guidance, assistance and encouragement of several outstanding individuals. For each one of them, our heartfelt gratitude!

OUR MISSION

Add to the evolutionary history knowledge of scleractinian corals and sister taxa

Our Journey So Far

2013

Anthozoa Systematic and Evolutionary Research Group started!

At the onset as part of the Federal University of São Paulo, the Anthozoa Systematics and Evolutionary Research Group started focusing on determining the complete mitochondrial genome and using it to reconstruct the phylogeny of scleractinian corals and its relationships with corallimorpharians.

2015

First Research Grant received!

With the project "Phylogenomics of the Order Scleractinia (Cnidaria, Anthozoa): relationships between evolution and climate change" our research group received a grant from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
